During the month of August, my granddaughter and I left the cottage with our pencils and sketch books to find something that we believed would make an interesting painting. This was my choice. We sat in the ditch on the side of the gravel road in the sun and really enjoyed just being together. Later we went back and spent the afternoon painting followed by a plunge in the lake and more giggles.
As a girl, my artistic creativity was awakened by an art teacher in high school. I learned at a young age to see the world in color, shapes and reflective light and so went on my way for many years as an astute observer of life in those terms. I later fell in love with watercolors and the joy of playing with pigment and water. As I travel, I'm inspired by "moments" of beauty that create a lasting vision needing to be captured not just by the eye but by the soul.
